Matt Shupe, Principal

Matt Shupe founded Praetorian Public Relations in San Francisco in 2013 with an initial goal of helping his clients gain a competitive edge by adopting unconventional digital and communication techniques.

Shupe has nearly two decades of branding, advertising, and public relations experience, and has developed extensive relationships with members of the media.

Shupe has personally managed digital advertising budgets in excess of $1 million, and was recognized as an innovator and leader when he was named one of the 40 under 40 in the country by the AAPC in 2017. In 2018, Praetorian Public Relations won the AAPC Pollie award for “Best use of Facebook” in the United States.

Shupe served as the communications director and primary spokesperson for John Cox, a gubernatorial candidate in California in 2018. Shupe earned Cox millions of dollars worth of earned media during the campaign.

Shupe earned degrees in Mass Communications and Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and another in Political Science from California State University, Fresno.

Morgan Murtaugh, Creative Director

Morgan Murtaugh is a design and digital media extraordinaire, with more than a decade of experience.

Murtaugh was hired as a digital media consultant for Carly Fiorina’s Presidential campaign during the 2016 primaries. Since then, she has worked as a television producer and on-air personality.

In 2018, Murtaugh ran for Congress where she developed her own branding, website, and digital strategy. Running for office gave Murtaugh unique insight into the struggle that many have with branding themselves or their organizations. Murtaugh is passionate about using her skills to help like-minded individuals build their brands.

Murtaugh earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Communications from The George Washington University.

Ian Eckstein, Senior client strategist

Ian Eckstein has been involved with Praetorian Public Relations since it was founded in 2013. He has worked on numerous political campaigns, including John Cox for Governor.

Eckstein brings to bear his extensive experience in digital marketing. He was the sixth hire at an Inc. 5000 digital marketing agency, and he has launched or played a fundamental role in the development and implementation of several seven figure e-commerce, commercial, and consumer websites.

Eckstein earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and will graduate with an MBA in Marketing from SDSU in 2020.

amber shupe, senior account executive

Amber Shupe joined Praetorian Public Relations in 2017 after two years as an Associate at Revolvis (since acquired by Axiom Strategies) and as our senior account executive, she ensures that our clients’ deadlines are met, and the rest of the staff receives the support they need.

Amber is a published author and utilizes her creative writing expertise to push the envelope of our communications.

Amber is expecting to graduate in 2020 with her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Sacramento with a double major in Film Studies and English, and a minor in Creative Writing.
